The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) will celebrate National Steel Day today with a special presentation by ikon.5 architects’ Lead Designer Joe Tattoni, FAIA, of ikon.5 architects, on the new Mori Hosseini Student Union at Embry‐Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. Creating a structural expression that evokes movement and flight was essential in embodying the mission of the University in architectural form, and we capitalized on the capabilities of structural steel to create large, clear‐span interior spaces visible across campus through a highly transparent and luminous skin.
