E.J. Ourso College of Business at Louisiana State University has been awarded two prestigious honors from the AIA Baton Rouge, a Silver Rose Award, and from the American Institute of Architects Louisiana, an Award of Merit. ikon.5 architects and Coleman Partners Architects created a joint venture to design the 167,000 square feet business school that opened in March, 2012. The awards were presented at the Louisiana AIA state convention in August, 2013.

The design of the Business Education Complex combined traditional architectural forms of the LSU campus with contemporary materials and details. These included translucent mirror glass pavilions and the rotunda clad in a bronze solar screen that protects the building from the harsh sunlight. Portions of the glass create a moiré pattern, providing a three-dimensional appearance.

Spaces within the building are designed for teaching and for learning. A business commons, interactive, tiered classrooms and rooms for collaborating teams are designed for today’s technology-driven campus, The school contains a graduate computer lab, mock trading floors, and an auditorium that seats 300.

Karen deVille, senior director in the office of the dean and office of advancement said, "Dean White has stated numerous times, 'the Business Education Complex quite simply has transformed business education at LSU's E.J. Ourso College of Business. From the case study classrooms to the team rooms to the Commons, to the auditorium, to so many other features, it is even more than I dreamed'."

ikon.5 architects are known for their award-winning designs for museums, higher education, libraries, performing arts, and corporate offices.
