Material Science Institute | Princeton University | Princeton, NJ | 1993
Laboratories | Offices | Auditorium | 44,000 square feet
The Princeton Materials Institute is a research laboratory building designed as a metaphor of materials science. The unusual, rich interplay of materials of the façade refers to the history of materials science - a discipline grown out of metallurgy in the 19th century. Simultaneously, the abstract systemic arrangement of the building's elements expresses today's scientific explorations at a molecular level.
