The School of Business at the University at Albany is a Village for Business Education. The design creates a gate way signature building for the School of Business, which previously was hidden within the rigor of the University's mega-structure. The new School of Business is set in front of Edward Durrell Stone's academic podium building. The podium provides a singular ground plan from which a more sculptural and community focused School of Business is placed. Internally, the teaching functions are organized around a multi-story commons space, which visually opens on the University's entry plaza.
